Late Janab Syed Nizamuddin sahib had a long tenure as secretary from 1967 to 1992. His contributions to this orphanage were highly commendable. He lived in the orphanage and took care of all the activities 24x7. He breathed his last in this orphanage only. He was succeeded by Syed Mohd Hadi who served orphanage from 1992 till 2007. He was succeeded by Nawab Mir Taher Ali Khan as president, who supported Janab S. M. Hashim Moosavi in the care of Darul Yathama

Late Janab S. M. Hashim Moosavi, President – A Person of Great Vision.

Janab S. M. Hashim took over as Hon. Secretary in 2007. This happened to be a turning point in almost 75 years of the history of Darul yathama and heralded an era of complete revamping of this orphanage over the next 15 years. He was a great visionary and a committed functionary ever since he took over the affairs in his hands. He put in relentless efforts for improving this orphanage till his death in 13-11-2023 at an age of 85 years, bravely combating his senility health issues. He was president of Darul yathama when he breathed his last. His extraordinary achievements during the stint of about 15 years are summed up in brief here.

  • The boys’ old building was renovated completely and transformed into a most elegant hostel accommodation.
  • The girls building which was in a dire and dilapidated condition was razed to the ground and a new G+2 building building with an office accommodation was constructed.
  • The five old Hasnath houses were secured from its tenants through negotiations and a G+5 Hasnath complex was brought into existence having 15 flats and a charitable clinic at the ground floor which is run by an NGO, to augment dependable revenue for the orphanage.
  • A part of the land was let out to a renowned school on a long lease.
  • The boarders education received a great impetus, by admitting the boys and girls separately in schools of repute. Private tutors were engaged for after school coaching.
  • The quality of food; health of the boatders , personal hygiene were closely monitored.
  • The orphanage was registered with the State Govt. and Income tax exemption from Govt. of India was also secured during his period. He also obtained Ijaza for Khums from both the grand Ayatullahs, Ayatullah Sistani and Ayatullah Khamenei.
  • Office procedures were totally revamped and computerized with records meticulously maintained. The accounts were audited by a chartered accountant regularly.
  • Deeni Talim was imparted by competent tutors from Houzas.
  • Last but not the least ,monthly meetings of the board members were carried regularly and the affairs of the orphanage were conducted by involving all the board members.

Despite all these pioneering works in Darul yathama, he also served the community through other institutions during his life time. He always remained a humble person and maintained a low profile.

What makes it great, to accomplish all these achievements is the fact that these were carried out without any corpus fund on hand, and by relying fully on Allah, His Holiest 14 and the donations from our patrons and well wishers all through these ventures. He was fully supported by the then president Late Nawab Taher Ali Khan.

Alhamdolillah, the legacy of Late S. M. Hashim Moosavi is being followed in totality unabated till this date. In fact, Darul Yathama owes its present enviable status to the vision and efforts of the late president.
